Director's Address: 2022 So Far
Dearest Alumni and Partners,
It’s hard to believe that it’s already the end of February when it seems like just yesterday we were wrapping up 2021. Even though we’re only a couple months into the new year, God has been working out His purposes in ways that are both challenging and encouraging. Our recent SOW Camp brought to light the medium to long-term impacts of two years’ worth of lockdowns, with many of the pastoral issues centring around questions related to identity, self-worth, purpose, mental health struggles and assurance of salvation.
Although these were some challenging conversations to have with these young people, it was also encouraging to see them open up and share honestly about how they’re going. It seems this will be a key focus of our ministry this year: proclaiming to young university students the depth and width and breadth of God’s unconditional love for them in Christ. Please pray for the staff, the campus leaders and all the members as we settle back into a year of uni without lockdown (God-willing!).
Thank you as always for all your support and encouragement, past, present and future. We could not do what we do without each one of you!
In Christ,
Sijin
Director Installation Event [25 March, 6:30PM @ HCC]
Many of you might already know that Sijin Yang has been serving as the Interim-Director of SOW since the beginning of 2019. The Board of SOW decided at the end of 2021 to drop the ‘interim’ and appoint him as the formal director of SOW moving forward.
In celebration of this milestone in the life and story of this ministry, we’re delighted to invite to this event to reconnect with old friends and commit this brother to prayer as we continue to move forward as a ministry. This event is free of charge with light refreshment being offered before and after the service.

Alumni (Re)Launch [30 April, 11:30AM @ Cabarita Park Conservatory]
Alumni engagement in the life of this ministry has been critical since it earliest days, with former students, graduated and working full-time, remaining to serve on the staff team for a number of years. Even now, the majority of the 35 staff serving at SOW are alumni continuing to invest into the ministry for the sake of seeing more uni students reached with the gospel.
As was the case then, so it is now: alumni support and engagement is critical to the continued growth and flourishing of this ministry, whether it be in volunteering as staff, generous financial giving or in much-needed prayer. As a ministry, we want to do a better job in keeping you informed of what is happening, where we’re going, and how you can both encourage and be encouraged by what’s God’s doing on campus.
The Alumni (Re)Launch event is where we want to invite you to partner with us the continued discipleship of uni students, just like when each of you were still students. This event is free of charge and is an opportunity to connect with students on the cusp of graduation, reconnecting with old friends, and hearing more about our plans to reach more students with the gospel moving forward. We’d be honoured to have you join us.
